Martinsville Outlook: Houston and DHR Ready for New Challenge

Reaching nearly 100 entries for the biggest Late Model Stock race of the year, the #ValleyStarCreditUnion300 is set to be the next step in Clark Houston's racing career. With most of his stock car success coming from the Southeast Super Trucks Series, Houston is ready and prepared to take on Martinsville Speedway.

Headed into the weekend, Houston is eager to turn his first laps around the half-mile paperclip.

"I'm really excited about making my first start at Martinsville. Going to a track I've been to watch national series races is really cool, and I'm really looking forward to getting on track Friday!"
Clark Houston

Late Model Stock racing is something that Clark has very little experience with. While he's had success in crate motor racing with Super Trucks and Limited Late Models, the LMSC is a very different hurdle to overcome. This year, Houston has made two starts in the #6 Alps Mtn. Affordable Hearing of Hickory Toyota. What's the biggest thing that the team needs on their side? Luck. Clark believes that Martinsville is a great opportunity for himself and the team to turn that luck around and show the speed they continuously bring to the track every race.

To learn a fast way around Martinsville, Clark has relied heavily on iRacing to turn thousands of laps in the weeks leading up to this weekend. Aside from the virtual landscape, Clark has taken tips from his built-in mentor, his father Andy Houston. Andy has raced around the Virginia speedway many times in his career, so this gave Clark the perfect opportunity to learn and have a head start around the unique surface at 2:00pm on Friday. Not to mention, Dwight Huffman Racing is the 1998 champion of this race with Dexter Canipe, so Ashley and team are sure to have the car and driver ready to race.

Clark sent out a big thank you to Alps Mtn., Duck Graphics, and everyone at DHR for this major opportunity to race against the best short-track drivers in the country.

Single-car qualifying for Saturday's ValleyStar Credit Union 300 will be held at 8:00pm on Friday. Fans can experience an autograph session Saturday at 12:45pm just before the first 25-lap heat race takes the green flag at 3:00pm.
